Windows 2008 Server Usage

I apologize ahead of time if I am completely using Starwind iSCSI in an incorrect way, I am very new to this. We have two Windows 2008 R2 SP2 Enterprise Servers. Our desire is to have real time (which I don't believe is possible with our environment) or at a minimum quick manual failover for mission...

Starport with clustered connections

Hello, I have not tried this but I wanted to ask before embarking on what could be a large waste of time. Is there a way for Starport to create a file image on two redundant systems in which two ESX servers can connect to the store at the same time, thus providing real time fail over? I noticed an o...

Mounting Starport ESX/Linux disk Image with a windows system

hello,

While it is possible to mount a Starport created iSCSI file that is in the ESX/Linux disk format, I cannot read the contents of the file. This may be normal, but I am playing with worst case scenario data recovery idea's.

is there a way to view the contents?

Thanks

Correction

Sorry, you do not need to choose "Automatically restore this connection when the system reboots" Just choose logon then OK. However, after logging on, then logging off on one machine, then loggin on with another machine, then logging off, I can no longer Log On with the original machine. S...

ESX redundancy

Hello, I am embarking on a ESX 3.5 server project and want to see what options, if any, that StarWind could provide me for some redundancy. I see the RAID1 mirroring option, also some options when creating an image for multiple connections (Clustering) but am confused on what will work reliably, wha...

All set

It works. You do have to mount it in the MS Initiator.

After adding the file in the Discovery Tab, choose the Target Tab, Log On, Check Automatically restore this connection when the system boots.

That seemed to do it for some reason.

I used Starport and that works fine. Maybe I just don't know how to use the MS Initiator? it see's everything, but maybe I am supposed to mount it after that? Not sure.

Description

Using starport I can mount the starwind image, open disk manager and format the drive and use it.

With the MS initiator I cannot do anything. It starts......that's it. Is there something I need to do to point it to the image and mount the Starwind image?

Cannot mount with MS iSCSI initiator, but StarPort works?

Hello, I was able to create a Starwind test disk and the MS iSCSI initiator can see the image from both the local machine and the remote machines. However, I cannot mount or do anything with the drives. Am I supposed to with the MS iSCSI Initiator or must I use a product like Starport? If so that se...

No firewall

This is on a Windows 2003 datacenter install with no firewalls active. All ports are open and there are no third party AV/Firewall products installed.

MS iSCSI initiator fails to connect, also using Starport rmt

Hello, I have set the Starwind free version. I used Starport to connect locally and format the 5 gig drive for my tests. However, from a remote Windows machine (And using ESX) I am unable to attach to the iSCSI image file I created. I also tried *****, a similar product with the same results, so obv...
