Synchronization Performance

Hi, I have a two node HA setup with both servers being linked via two 10Gb NIC's. When my two servers synchronize the NIC's are only running at about 1.8 Gbps each. I would have expected to see both NIC's on the PINS when a synchronization occurs, which is not the case. What should be the expected b...

New Server Config: LUN's

I have a new Starwind iSCSI cluster that I am ready to start load testing prior to placing it into production. Here is my config and intent. Two servers completely identical to one another. Will be a two node Active-Active HA cluster Each server has 23TB of drive space after RAID configuration. Will...

RAID Configuration

Hello, I am setting up a new SW server. I will have 12 4TB drives. http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/enterprise-hard-drives/hdd/enterprise-capacity-3-5-hdd/ I plan to use RAID 10, but is it better to have all these drives in one RAID volume or break them down into smaller volumes? Thanks, ...

Re: Building the Perfect StarWind iSCSI Server

I recently went through the same build.. ending up going SATA instead of SAS.. with 10k Velociraptors and SATA units being less expensive than SAS, unless you need 15k drives, why bother.... At those prices, you can go SSD. I am going SAS this time around. The iSCSI server I am replacing had all SA...

Re: Building the Perfect StarWind iSCSI Server

Anton,

What would you recommend for the amount of RAM to use? My servers max out at 256G but I'm wondering how much I should actually install?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Building the Perfect StarWind iSCSI Server

Anton,

Thanks for your response.

So processors/cores have little influence on performance?

More RAM the better?

What about SSD's for caching? Can the software utilize this?

What about drive speeds? Can you provide any feedback?

Thanks again,
Chris

Building the Perfect StarWind iSCSI Server

Hi, I am in the process of building a new iSCSI server utilizing the paid version of StarWind. Our current iSCSI server is out of space and I'm looking to upgrade storage and performance. What are the best specs to achieve the best performance with StarWind? I will be using a Chenbro server case wit...

Dropping iSCSI Connections

We are using Starwind as a iSCSI solution. We have multiple servers accessing this server through iSCSI targets. All our servers are running MS Server 2008 R2 and we have several Hyper-V virtual servers running on the host that have the actual VHD stored on the Starwind server. Our iSCSI connections...

Thanks Max. I would really like to see this feature added and would be interested to know if its already a planned enhancement.

Thanks,

Re: Need some fundemental questions answered

Hi!
I am still confused on this. I have my journals sent to a remote location, but I don't think these are all the required snapshot files that you refernce above. Is this not the point of placing the jornals in a different location?

Thanks,
Chris
