Re: Creating an HA target in v8, slightly confused...

Thanks, not sure how I didn't come across that while I was digging. Got a little further than ran into some more issues with Starwind before I could finally get through the replication manager wizard. I wonder if alot of it stems from just upgrading previous versions since we started with Starwind. ...

Re: Creating an HA target in v8, slightly confused...

Thanks for that. Trying to create a device, choose thin and set my options, when choosing location and the window opens I have nothing displayed. If I manually enter a location and walk through the wizard I will get "failed to create device" . Same for either node. I can create a disk brid...

Creating an HA target in v8, slightly confused...

I hate to admit it, but the options I am looking for seem to be not where I am expecting. We've been running a 2 server HA setup with multiple HA targets for a few years now. I've finally been able to start replacing some Platter drives with SSD's and am trying to create to HA targets and devices. I...

Re: Mismatch in files between servers

Just a set of regular hosts. A few years ago when we set it up we did it this way, then migrated to a Windows Cluster but had some weird random issues, so we fell back to just connecting the two Hyper V servers to the iscsi targets. Has worked great until now when one Hyper V server is 2012 and the ...

Re: Mismatch in files between servers

What we have been doing normally, is when I connect a target in Windows, I check the Enable Multipath. Then I go into disk management and add that disk available. I'd say we have done it this way for a few years without any problems.

Can each target only be connected to one server at a time?

Mismatch in files between servers

We have a 2 SAN HA node with 2 Hyper V Servers accessing it. Looking in disk mgmt on both Hyper V servers shows the device I am connected to is coming up as Disk 5. I bounce back to iscsi.cpl and find which disk that is being presented from. Both Hyper V servers are connected to the same SAN server....

Re: Want to change heartbeat network, but can't.

Ok, every paired connection has been moved over to it's own subnet, a tedious task but it looks like things are alot happier this way. Also this was the first time it hasn't used the heartbeat connection (1Gb) to sync and used the 10Gb links. It was nice to see 50% of the 10Gb being utilized since i...

Re: Want to change heartbeat network, but can't.

I tried it a couple times, sometimes getting a different error sooner. I sometimes wonder if it has something to do with our setup and Windows. Our SAN's are direct connect, no switch, and use 192.168.11/12.x 255.255.0.0. We have a remote network that is 192.168.1-8.x 255.255.0.0 and sometimes Windo...

Want to change heartbeat network, but can't.

Previously when I went to change the heartbeat network I was told to do so by going through the replication manager. I removed the replication partner, tried adding it back and couldn't because the device was in use. Removed the device from the partner, went through all the steps, then at the final ...

Odd sync kicked off automatically

I am in the process of upgrading to larger 72 disk cases from SM. I shut down one of our nodes (we run HA on two nodes), swapped the hardware into the new case, brought it back up the next day (today). Why would the node that has been up decided it needed to synchronize after this? It caused all of ...

Re: Having some problems with Backup Plugin

I tried setting it up so there was only one backup of a VM a night to see if that would help and to make sure it wasn't impacting anything. It is onto physical disks, just a couple simple RAID1's. The VM's are on another server as we have the Backup Server dedicated to just storage and not running a...

Re: Having some problems with Backup Plugin

Ok I have both of our Hyper V servers with plug ins going, but a past issues has come up in that the backups are extremely slow, ie our database server is at 42% after 10hrs. Less than 200GB's to backup. It also makes them VM useless.

Re: Having some problems with Backup Plugin

I'm not sure where the location of this is "2.Install the custom build of backup service that you was proided with on the second server manualy (just copypaste the installer on the machine and run it)?" I didn't see anything on the Hyper V server that is working right besides the STarwind ...

Re: Having some problems with Backup Plugin

Ok, the backup server is setup with the Free version. One of our Hyper V servers I installed the agent fresh and have everything setup. The second one takes for ever to connect to, sits at the Please Wait screen with the gear cogs. Then says Storage Pool not configured, so I click yes lets configure...

Re: Having some problems with Backup Plugin

Which version should we be using.

We have an HA license that we use for our SAN, then we have this backup license. I don't want to impact the SAN so I have a separate server hosting all the disk for the backup plugin. Should this separate server have the free license on it.
