Re: Diskless Booting from iSCSI Target

I got it working the say you suggested, however I took an image of a Ubuntu installation, it starts booting but then crashes. my initial guess is due to hardware configuration changes. Is there a way to install an OS from the actual machine that is booting via PXE? or that is not possible? what is t...

Diskless Booting from iSCSI Target

Hi, So I found the below document explain on how you can use PXE boot to boot disk-less over iSCSI. http://www.starwindsoftware.com/tmplink/StarWindiSCSIBoot.pdf‎ The document explains on how to mount an existing image file for virtual disk so that the computer can boot from. My question is, if you ...

Re: MPIO no performance boost?

No I'm referring to the Round Robin policy in iSCSI initiator and settings IOPS=1, default is IOPS=1000.

Re: MPIO with Centos or RHEL

Hi Max, I believe I finally resolved the issue, we had setup a 2 node Centos cluster. We created the first node and then we cloned the second node from the first node. What we did not realize was that both nodes were setup to use the same iSCSI Initiator name since it was a clone, I changed it on th...

Required # of Sync channels for each Client channels for HA

My understanding for an HA setup was that for each client channel available there should be a Sync Channel between the HA Nodes, below are snippets from my older posts. logicmate wrote: When we install 5.8, if HA-Node-1 has 2x1GB NICs for iSCSI client and HA-Node-2 has 2x1GB NICs for iSCSI client th...

Re: Updating procedure 5.7HA to 5.8HA

Gentlemen, I'm trying to wrap my head around this config and I've got some questions: 1. What OS is used on the storage nodes? 2. How is the iSCSI storage connected to the guest VMs? (The storage showing the above mentioned strange patterns) a. iSCSI target is connected to the Hyper-V host, a CSV i...

Re: Updating procedure 5.7HA to 5.8HA

I just got some strange results, on Windows 2003 Target it seems to be working as expected, however the strange behavior is only being experienced in the Window 2008 R2 targets.

Re: Updating procedure 5.7HA to 5.8HA

2 Camelay, Fixed path is not an option, HA benefits from Round Robin since it can use both pathes for reading the data. Fixed path should be avoided because it slows down the failover. By the way, I've seen a similar performance drop with non-equal jumbo frames on the SAN servers. Could you please ...

Re: Updating procedure 5.7HA to 5.8HA

I noticed the same behaviors on our iSCSI SAN in HA mode a few weeks ago but did not have time to investigate it further to report back. But when i saw this thread I thought I would check in and share my results as well. Our results before going HA were perfect, so the only change in the setup was g...

Re: MPIO with Centos or RHEL

Attached is a snippet of the log file from one of the HA nodes, I just noticed the log files are huge and repeated with the same information over and over again.

Thanks,

Re: MPIO with Centos or RHEL

Thank you for the links, helpful. I found this additional documentation which is great because it shows you step by step on what you need to do to successfully establish MPIO. I got it working.
