Re: Starwind Service Shutdown with Large Cache

Production system so I can't reboot it and then do a full sync - I've got like 5 TB of data the sync takes an age and I can't risk being on one node for that time unless I have too. But I have explained - there is another process that runs at shutdown and monitors services it must have its own timer...

Starwind Service Shutdown with Large Cache

Latest released Starwind version running on Server 2012 I have about 65gb of cache in all which takes about 4/5 mins to write out on stopping the starwind service. Problem is I cannot persuade windows that this length of time is expected - it keeps thinking the service has locked on shutdowns and fo...

Re: Synchronization Process

I'm happy to provide this information but please can you answer the question I actually asked. Which was for a high level explanation of how the full synchronization process actually works. ---------------- Info as requested; 1. Server 2012 for 2 x iSCSI san host. Hosts are also hosting Hyper-V clus...

Synchronization Process

Can someone explain to me how the full synchronization process works? I am feeling like I'm not getting the performance I should be on full sync and I need to understand the process better to be able to confirm diagnosis or understand why its not performing as I would expect. For example I'm doing a...

Re: Restrictions of Native-San for Hyper-V

How do I apply for the beta?

Can I get a firm date as to when the restriction stopping hyper-v guests connecting to LUNs presented from Native Edition will be flexed out as you put it?

I'm just in the processes of firming up a decision and it's urgent that I know for sure.

Re: Restrictions of Native-San for Hyper-V

So currently if I have 2 guest vms running and they are on a csv so they can live migrate etc. If they are running say SQL and the SQL data is stored on another HA lun can the VM's connect into the san from the guest OS using their own iscsi initiators, which would in effect make them look like they...

Re: Restrictions of Native-San for Hyper-V

Thanks for that But what about my other question, I'm trying to ensure I don't buy something that won't cover all my needs. Does Starwind hyper-v only provide storage for hyper-v ie cvs, or can I create targets to store other types of data that my hyper-v guests can connect to directly? IE I'm looki...

Restrictions of Native-San for Hyper-V

Right Then, I've not been able to get a proper answer out of sales so I thought I'd post on here. Could someone explain to me to differences and restrictions of Native for Hyper-V over the standard edition please? I know that it's designed for a 2 server hyper-v installation and that suits me fine, ...

Re: Hyper-V Server 2012

That's great news.

Does that mean you will be officially supporting Starwind running on Server 2012 from the date Server2012 goes gold?

Thanks

I'm planning an installation for later this year and am considering Starwind, I'm planning on using Server 2012 so w...

Hyper-V Server 2012

Hyper-V Server 2012 is now at RC, due out later this year.

Can you tell me how long after release you think it will take for you to get a compatible version of Native SAN for Hyper-V out??
