Hi, I'm planning to do an minor upgrade to the latest v8 build from the previous v8 build (only days apart). This is the first time upgrading. From the release notes, a rather complicated procedure arises. Is this applicable between builds of the same major release or only to upgrade from earlier ma...
I'm having the same issue with the snapshots piling up. Did you address this issue to MS already? Also, could anyone at Starwind confirm that the VSS provider supports auto-recovery snapshots? Described in detail at: http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2012/10/08/iscsi-target-storage-vds-vss-...
Great work guys! It's working now. There are two minor issues I encountered: 1. It seems that the auto-recovery phase of the snapshot still fails. It's only logged when backup up a Windows VM. The following is logged in the event log: The following information was included with the event: \\?\Volume...
Unfortunately, no result as you can see in the logfile in my post. The COM object cannot be registered. I sent a PM to Anatoly, in case Starwind support want to follow-up on this issue.
Fingers crossed they will solve this
It seems that the problem originates in the installation / registration phase of the provider. I tried re-registring the VSS hw provider, with the following result. Hopefully that's of any help. If you need more information for debugging, please feel free to ask. C:\VssHWProviderStarWind>cscript reg...
I seem to have the very same problem. Lack of a good backup solution is really what stops me from choosing for Starwind so far. For the rest, I really like what I have seen so far. In a test setup, I tried Server 2012, VM on CSV and DPM 2012 SP1. Volume Shadow Copy Service error: A critical componen...
I'm currently trying the backup-plugin, however i cannot add the Hyper-V server Situatation: 1 node cluster running Hyper-V server 2012 1 starwind iSCSI SAN node 1 starwind backup server Problem is, if I try to add the Hyper-V server, it will be added as a backup server instead of a hyper-v server. ...
But how is that different from Hyper-V built in replication? What I would like to do, is create periodic off-site backups with minimal I/O impact. Therefore, replication seems to be a bit to 'expensive' in terms of iops. So is it possible to run starwind backup over a WAN link (100 mbit, 12 msec). T...
Thanks Anton, Regarding issue 3, how would you deploy the various components? I.e. the following: (main production site) SAN-node1 <===HA===> SAN-node2 Hyper-V nodes (dr site) Starwind backup server Backup storage In other words, how does the replication of backups work? Can't find it in the documen...
We are currently planning a Starwind iSCSI SAN deployment, did some research but did not find conclusive answer on the following points: [*] Because we are partly migrating the existing environment, we would like to start out with the free version and later (when equipment is available) make the set...
