Hyper-V SMI-S/Rapid Provisioning help?

Hey all, I was able to configure SCVMM to manage LUN's using SMI-S, and have successfully created LUN's that are usable by each of my Hyper-V hosts. I'm currently interested in Hyper-V's Rapid Provisioning feature, which states that either cloning or snapshots needs to be supported by the SAN. When ...

Re: Jumbo Frames: what are we doing wrong with them?

Hey all, I ran the ping -f -l commands back when I was troubleshooting and that worked successfully from host to SAN and SAN to host. Yet, I still experienced better performance with jumbo frames disabled altogether. We left it off for now because I'm wondering if part of the problem is our ancient ...

Jumbo Frames: what are we doing wrong with them?

We just determined that for some odd reason, setting MTU to 9000 on our 2012 R2 Hyper-V hosts actually slows performance down significantly. The most obvious impact is when migrating storage of a virtual machine. With Jumbo Frames enabled, we find that moving a particular VM takes about an hour. Wit...

Re: SMI-S and syncing question

Thanks Vitaliq! We'll take a look at SMI-S later but for now, we're pretty used to creating and connecting to LUN's without it.

SMI-S and syncing question

Hi all, We're about to deploy 3 new hosts with StarWind 8 to replace our existing 3-host, SW 6 setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated here as we're currently just running some tests: I think we've got SMI-S pretty well sorted out -- I've been able to set up the agent, add it to SCVMM, create a...
