Re: StarWind Free dismantle best practice

first of all, I want to do it from scratch. two nodes without StarWind at all, but be able to move the VMs to the regular storage that is currently being used by StarWind. As I see it, I should dismantle the nodes one by one. and I want to know the best way to do that.

Re: StarWind Free dismantle best practice

Is it possible just switch off one node and disable/remove the iSCSI software adapter (vmhba64) there and finally remove SW VM?

Re: Best practice for cluster recovery

This likely related to ESXi not the the VM running in it.
Yes, technically you're right but the device was a part of CVM and both CVM nodes was proceeding communication via Data link and Replication link . When I fix it , I`ll give you a feedback.

Re: Best practice for cluster recovery

I'm sorry. I don't follow. Could you please rephrase and tell me more on why you think StarWind *img inside the VM to be a problem for ESXi host? As only I had got the problem and restart ESXi , I lost access to ESXi web GUI but SSH access was available. Even RAID Manager plug-in for ESXi was worki...

Re: LUN Capacity

I found out the problem. PowerShell script doesn`t care how many free disk space I have.
it just increase size after running ExtendDevice.ps1 for any size what you set.
IMHO this is incorrect behavior.

Re: StarWind VSAN CreateHA_2.ps1 sample for CVM

Thanks for sharing! I am glad to read it worked. I need to clarify on poolname. I will update this comment once I find out. The root password is not common knowledge. Also, root logins are disabled, so leave it as is (you still can change it if your regulations say so). but if someone gets and runs...

Now the system shows 2.99TB but LUN have become 5.78TB How it could be possible ?
Physical disks are 3TB also.

Re: StarWind VSAN CreateHA_2.ps1 sample for CVM

Do I need to change the root default password or can I just disable SSH in the CVM after configuration?

And as for the pool name, I have set my own name and everything is working fine. How might this affect the service in the future?

Extended storage. 3. do your instruction 4. Power on the server 5. I do the same thing for second 6. And I get result from my last screen s...

Re: Extend storage HDD (Free)

$ sudo /opt/starwind/starwind-san-and-nas-console/Scripts/hardware/hardware.py PvResize --device /dev/vdc1 the device is actually vdd1 , is it correct ? Is that a typo, right ? --device /dev/vdd1 the instruction helps me to extend a partition but unfortunately I get a broken LUN. What did I miss?

Extend storage HDD (Free)

Hello , How to stop syncing between nodes with PowerShell to increase storage capacity. To extend volume isn`t problem, but in case extending virtual HDD there is a little be challenge. You can get vSphere error "200 Failed: synchronizer has invalid state" if syncing won`t stopped. What is...
