I have a Proxmox server with Linux and Windows VMs all are created with MBR and I want to convert them to Hyper-v G2, but when I convert to Hyper-V and choose a G2 VM after the conversion the disk still is a MBR disk so the G2 VM is unable to boot since G2 doesn't support MBR. It will be fine with a pop-up that says the disk still will be MBR after conversion so I know I will have to convert the disk from MBR to GPT after myself. Even better just convert to GPT while converting to .vhdx

V2V converter does not convert MBR to GPT. It maps the data and file systems to a different file format. This could be helpful though https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... a-gpt-disk

Yes I used the MBR2GPT conversion tool, but it would be nice if it said somewhere in the V2V tool that it will not convert MBR to GPT. Or is it in your documentation somewhere since I am not lazy to read that.

Hi,

This is already not the intended use of the product :)
MBR conversion is already something that has to be done on the file system side.

Hi,

The feature relates to File system. V2V does not alter the file system. There are the default means of Windows for this job.
