Hello, i am trying to confirm that this tool will do the initial P2V run and then do a final synch on data. we have several machines to P2V and they have very large data sets. we need a tool that will do the conversion and then a final synch. the time to P2V leaves the data set out of synch. will this tool do that?

Welcome to StarWind Forum. P2V conversion can be done live and it is non-disruptive for the source data. Good luck with your project.

i appreciate the response. i would like to clarify.
i start a P2V process on a monday. that process take 9 days.
my source and destination are now 9 days out of synch.
does this tool - after the P2V is complete. - do a final run to synch any/all out of synch data?

P2V uses VSS. Source will be the same as the destination the moment conversion is over.

i understand. if i had a 5gb server. and you took a VSS snap and transferred it in an hour. they are the same. but, our case is dealing with a much larger data set that has to transfer over the wire.

I am trying to clarify that it will then undergo a synch..
will it take another vss snap and transfer it after the initial P2V process.

currently we have to P2V the server and then run robocopy over and over again until the synch completes with no changes. then we know both sides are the same.

what does star wind do to make up the 9 day delta between that first VSS snapshot and the completion of the data synch.

could you please answer withs some detail rather than the single line quips.

The destination ends up with the same set of data as the source.
At the beginning, the converter takes a VSS snapshot of the storage. The data that is altered is merged afterward to the destination.
