I am getting the following errors when trying to backup to tape on DPM 2012r2 to an HP 1x8 G2 Autoloader with an LTO-6 Drive.

Description:

The detailed inventory of tape failed for the following reason: (ID: 3316)
DPM could not reserve the drive resource because one of required drive resources is not online or it needs cleaning or servicing. (ID: 24052)

and

Tape Library Hewlett Packard 1x8 G2 autoloader (x64 based) is not functioning efficiently for the following reason: The drive information for Tape Library Hewlett Packard 1x8 G2 autoloader (x64 based) is incorrect and needs to be refreshed. (ID: 3302)

I have the redirector software running on a Windows 2008 R2 server. It is being redirected to my W2k12r2 server running DPM2012r2. I can see the tape drive and I have loaded the correct driver. In DPM, the tape library is available and it sees that I have 8 tapes loaded and available but I keep getting these errors whenever I try and send an inventory job to the drive.

Any ideas?

1) Make sure tape and app run fine in a loopback (on the same host)
2) Make sure you run V8 and not some ancient Tape Redirector build
3) Make sure you've applied proper packet size thru registry settings (sticky thread here)

If you'll still have issues please send us zipped StarWind long from host with a tape drive attached (and our software running).

Where can I get version 8? I think I am using 5.8.

You can get StarWind Virtual SAN V8 on our site. Make sure you reference to sales you need Tape Redirector functionality. Old 5.xx branch code is outdated and not supported.
