Im trying to set up HA between two servers but when i get to the end and click 'GO', it errors and gives the following message:

Partner device initialization failed
Failed: specified file can not be opened

It created the file on both servers ok during the set up process, so I dont see the problem? I have disabled the firewalls on both servers, there is no anti-virus or other software running, in fact both servers are clean installs of Windows 2008 R2 Standard. Both have a 2Tb drive, running in GPT. However, one server is a physical server, the other, which is also the failing server, is a Virtual Machine hosted on Hyper-V Core 2008 R2.

I can even set up standalone iSCSI targets on either server with no problems.

I can't figure out the reason why. Can anyone help?

There are 2 scenarios here
1. Your sync interface is not able to establish an iSCSI connection
2. You're creating an HA on one server by a mistake.
Do you have separate IP's for sync and heartbeat?
