For those that are implementing 10gig:
Are there any affordable multi port 10 gig switches?
I just took a look at the starting price of Dell's 24 port 8000 series:
-SFP+ $8500+
-Copper $15000+

I went with Dells 6000 series IIRC, you can add up to 4 10GB ports on the back. This was fine for us as we only 2 Hyper V servers accessing a Starwind HA setup.
I think it came in around ~$3k
edit: yep - PowerConnect 6224 Switch

1) You need TWO switches for proper HA configuration. Every single point of failure should be eliminated.
2) Avoid switches if possible. Copper of fiber cross-cable is a) faster b) cheaper c) has less silicon to fail.

@mooseracing: I have a couple of 6224's, unfortunately I have more than 4 servers.
@Jerky_san: I need more than 6 ports & 5k is a little much for me.
@anton: I agree about avoiding switches. But what do you do if you have 7+ servers & want to multipath the iscsi network?

Hi all, my $0.05 here -
HP procurve E6600 with 4 CX port and 24/48 GbE can do the deal for the beginning.
The thing is - you do not really need 10 gigs to each server on the switch.
Teaming ports for intensivly loaded servers can do the deal in most of the cases.
