Hi there,

We currently have 2 2-node HA clusters, one running 5.8.1964, and one running 5.8.2013.

We tend to update to the newest version whenever we need to reboot the boxes for normal maintenance reasons.

I see that there is now version 5.8.2059 as the latest version, and I'm wondering if I should update to that version on our clusters.

It has been a large source of frustration for me and our other engineers that there are never, ever any release notes for the minor versions. What has changed between 5.8.1964 and 5.8.2013? And then between 5.8.2013 and 5.8.2059? Was some massive bug fixed? Am I living dangerously by not updating because there's a big undisclosed bug?

It's very odd to have updates released with no accompanying release notes - I don't know of any other enterprise software that has this same policy.

Can I please have the release notes?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi guys,

Any chance of an answer to this? Would it help if I raised a support case to ask the same question?

Many thanks,

Andy

Actualyl yes - in case is we are working via emails with the person who has active Support Agreement the response is much quicker.
You can learn about the response time for our support plans by using this link, and response time for forum is two business days.

OK, regarding your question:
You can always find the release notes for each build in the ReleaseNotes.txt file that you can find in StarWind installation folder.

Hi Anatoly,

Thanks for the answer - we have found the release notes inside the installation folder now!

There is one minor problem with the notes only being in the installation folder though - you can't actually read them until you've installed the latest version somewhere! :)

In my case, I installed the latest version on my desktop just so I could read the notes - the notes displayed during installation are just the 'major' release notes, i.e. the original 5.8 notes, and not the individual build notes, unless I'm being blind. Would it be possible to have the build notes tacked on to the forum post about the StarWind Latest Version? Or perhaps, have them tacked on to the notes that are displayed as you run the installer?

Cheers,

Andy
