OK ...

It's a 4-node-cluster with fully patched Win 2012. StarWind iSCSI SAN Software v6.0.0 (Build 20120927, [SwSAN], Win64) + Starwind Hardware VSS Provider 4.5 installed on all nodes (initiator). MS iSCSI initiator with MPIO. Starwind also running on Win 2012.

DPM 2012 SP1 RTM (4.1.3322.0) as Hyper-V virtual machine on non-cluster server. DPM agents on cluster nodes 4.1.3322.0.

CSV is 5 TB IBV device on Starwind SAN (write-through caching 5000 MB).

One test VM on CSV (dc), one protection group at DPM (Child Partition Snapshot).

DPM: Create recovery point ... Snapshot creation on Starwind ok ... Error DPM ...

Without Hardware VSS no probs ...

Is it possible for you to provide us with the detailed diagram?
We still dont see where starwind is running, how does it connected, how everything is connected, etc. I`l appreciate if your diagram will be as detailed as possible, so as the description of actions that I`m requesting again.

Thank you

Hi!

I've attached the (simplified) schema. It's all recommended standard config.

OK, thanks.

May I ask you couple of more things:
-initially you have mentioned that you have 4 nodes. Would you be so kind to clarify how exactly each node is involved in this scenario?
-where have you got StarWind iSCSI SAN product installed?
-where the VSS provider installed?
-we`d like to see vssadmin list providers output.

Thank you

pit, can I ask you to update your SAN and VSS provider both? Hopefully it will solve your issue.

Hi!

Good job! With newest release it works!
But I've still the issues with more and more snapshot files on SAN. How to delete them without going offline or having performance issues??

regards,
Lukas

Are those snapshots are taken with DPM or StarWind software?

I think it will be better to address this question to the MS then.

I'm having the same issue with the snapshots piling up.
Did you address this issue to MS already?

Also, could anyone at Starwind confirm that the VSS provider supports auto-recovery snapshots? Described in detail at: http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/arch ... vider.aspx

Currently we do not support this feature unfortunatelly. Probably we will, but we do not have exact ETA for now.
