Hello.
I was hoping to get the inline dedupe on free single node license, as it is clearly stated here, that it is supposed to be free: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/styles ... s_Paid.pdf
I've read the documentation and I seem to be doing it by the manual.
When creating both thin and thick disks, the LSFS option button is greyed out, thus preventing the use of dedupe.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your reply!

Thick-provisioned FLAT cannot be deduped. Only thin-provisioned LSFS.

Yes, obviously, I tried selecting thin format too:

The button is greyed out.
LSFS options greyed out even on thin LSFS, thus making the enablement of dedupe feature impossible.
I really do suspect that I was given out some bogus free license, since there is no dedupe option mentioned in my license.
Could you confirm that it's not a licensing issue at least?

On the side note.
All I really want is single node dedupe working for non critical systems and lab enviroments. Here we are using NetApp and it's auto-defrag and auto-dedupe features for production.
Would recommend your product to people, if the issue gets resolved and all works well afterwards.

I am also having this issue. I downloaded the installer yesterday and have the 2 Free for VMware vSAN License pack installed.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Talked to engineers. Whoops... For some "nice" reason dedupe in that build is turned OFF. Sorry about that :( I'll let you know when we'll re-pack the installation for you. Should not take a lot of time :) Sorry once again!!

Hi.

Is it somehow possible to get a key and downlink to the v6 with dedupe?

Correct me if I'm wrong... but it seems like
LSFS requires undocumented amount of Over-provisioning: 2x-3x, this is mentioned in the FAQ here on forum. That by itself defeats the purpose of dedupe.

I know your hands are probably full right now, so I don't expect a reply any time soon and I wish you good luck in solving the problems.

Will stick to good old XFS and WAFL for time being. Will check the forum regularly.

Thank you.

Not realy - we don`t didtribute it anymore.

Also, we are working on the document that goin to describe how LSFS works best, and its best case scenarios. Stay tuned.
