Hello:

Please excuse me if this is covered elsewhere, but I could not find a way to do it online or even without restore from backup.

We have a 2-Node HA cluster with 2 targets using Flat files and 1 using LSFS. The LSFS is too much of a pain for us with no visible gain. (Horribly long startup times: 40 minutes to create and sync, unpredictable disk usage) We have a very high performing flash based storage, so the efforts to write sequential get us very little. I have been unable to find a way to migrate the LSFS based image to a flat based image. The syncronization wizzard will only create a new LSFS partner, not flat. We can not create a new target with flat files because the combination of both 1.5TB targets pushed us over our license limit.

Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

First of all I should tell you that LSFS was not designed to use with flash storage.
Next is you should work with the latest build(it`s available on your customer page)
Below you can find the migration plan from LSFS into Flat(image) device(HA case):
- First is you need to back up your files.
- Open Replication Manager on the first node and delete partner(including physical device on the partner node)
- On the second node create standalone flat image file and connect it
- Copy all data from LSFS device into standalone image file device(using just copy and paste)
- Delete LSFS device on the first node(including physical device)
- Disconnect your new flat standalone image file and create replica
- Connect your new HA flat image file to your customer
Enjoy your new image file based HA 8)

I that is the best you got, I will have to live with it.

First, it is nice to know that the recommendations on LSFS have changed. When v8 was released, it was recommended to move from flat LSFS even in the case of all flash.

Second, for most workloads this will entail significant downtime.

Third, it necessitates creating and mapping a new target name, since there does not appear to be a method to rename a target.

I hope this improves in future versions.
