Strangely, installing Virtual SAN i Hyper-V Server 2016, with FREE license gives me an error:
Any clue?

It clearly states you should have hyper-v role disabled and you have it enabled.
This restriction is going to be dropped some time closer to the end of this year but it's there just yet.

Thanks for the info.
However: how would you remove Hyper-V role from Microsoft Hyper-V Server?
It's really confusing: yes, we DO support hyper-v, but you cannot use it with hyper-v.

GUI:

PowerShell: "Remove-WindowsFeature -Name Hyper-V"
It's really not as confusing as you read the document for free vs paid. In a nutshell: you try hyperconverged now and it's not supported with a free version (for now, but we'll unlock this around early december).

Technically you create a 'shared nothing' scale-out file server with a free version and feed shared storage over SMB3 to your N-node hyper-V cluster.

Dear Anton,
if it's not clear to you: Windows Server 2016 is not the same product as Hyper-V Server 2016.
So, if your sales rep tells me: YES, we DO support HV2016 with a free version, and you cannot bind together those 2 facts, it starts me wondering: should I start making business with them?
And everything I wanted to test was you iSCSI initiator.
Am I missing something?

Dear Marcin,
In order to disallow HyperConvered scenario in our free version we do not allow Free StarWind license key installation on any Windows box that has Hyper-V role installed.
Our free version will be changed soon, but it is not changed yet unfortunately.
Please let me know if you have any question left.
Thank you very much for your patience.
