Performance accessing iSCSI target

Hi,

I am new user in discovery mode with StarWind

I am an Oracle DBA Architect and I am dealing a lot with oracle RAC configuration. To do my test I need some VM and shared storage capabilities.

Here is my config:

Host is Windows 2008 R2 with 2* Xeon E5530 and 32 Gb of RAM with Two Areca SAS controlers and a bunch of HD.
All my VM are under VMWare workstation 9
Before I was using OpenFiler for iSCSI target configuration. It works fine but the I/O bandwith is very poor.

My RAC config is as follow:
One DNS server under OEL linux
One Storage Server Openfiler 2.99
5 nodes under OLE Linux
Oracle 11gR2 Grid and Database

Just for testing, I have defined a cluster filesystem using ASM capabilities on a target hosted by my OpenFiler VM.
Coping a 990MB file takes nearly 30 seconds, not so good.

I have installed StarWind on my Windows 2008 R2 host and have defined a target on an image disk just for test, enable cluster access, put 256Mb of cache and from one of the node connected to the target.

To copy the same file it take 2 minutes... What's wrong here?
For information it take nearly 27 seconds from an other VM Windows 7 also from vmware workstation.

Hi and welcome on board

I need to know the following information from you in order to provide a solution:
1. What StarWind device type was used in the test (i.e. Image file, CDP, Deduplication)?
2. RAID array model, RAID level and stripe size used, caching mode of the array used to store HA images, Windows volume allocation unit size
3. NIC models, driver versions (driver manufacturer/release date) and NIC advanced settings (Jumbo Frames, iSCSI offload etc.)
4. Network scheme.
