Hi,

Similarly to the post at viewtopic.php?t=6238, trying to install SW8. I am stuck at "Stopping the..".

Can't follow the instructions there, as I have no Starwind installed. At all. There is not even a mention in the registry of Starwind.

Any tips?

Welcome to StarWind Forum.
Can you please tell me more about the installation case?
Yes, it seems that the installation was not performed. Could you please run the installation with SERVER option selected and CLOUD REPLICATOR checkbox unchecked?

Hi Yaroslav and dobre otro,

Yes. Tried it on 6 machines - 3 physical and 3 virtual.

* All running Windows Server Datacenter. Windows versions used are 20348,25314,26244 and 26252 (latter two are 2025 prerelease).
* CPUs attempted are both Intel and AMD (where physical).
* VMs attempted include both HyperV and VirtualBox (7.0.14)
* Memory amount ranges from 8G (on VMs) to 128GB on two of the physical machines.
* Network cards are ConnectX -4 and -5 on physical and either 'Microsoft' or either of Intel 82545 or VirtIO on the virtual machines. 10GB Fiber is used.
* Starwind software signed on 04APR24.
* Attempted both 'Trial' and 'Free' licenses.

Per your suggestion, Server-only installation was flowless.

Running installation again, without Cloud-Redir went well, until the attempt to remove old hardware VSS provider. This was endless. The same removal attempt at the first, server-only installation also took a bit.

I will now try this on the other machines.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for your udpate and dobroho ranku :)
VSS provider is not necessary as LSFS has been deprecated.
Let me know if you have additional questions.

p.s. Have a nice weekend.
