Hello together!

I hope you can help me. I wanted to give the StarwindVSA Free Appliance a try, but i ran into a few Problems.

My actual Setup:
- Two Proxmox Host with an 10GB Connection between them
- 2 Starwind VSA Appliance Nodes, deployed with the qcow2 Template and the Free Licences. (Version: 1.6.578.7343)

I installed both Appliances, add them to an Cluster and configured the HA Network. Now i want to create an Share-Nothing cluster, where both Nodes have on virtual Disk which should be use for redundancy Sync.

At the Moment where i create the Storage Pools, it doesn't matter which configuration i tried (Single Disk, Software-RAID, ZFS), i got the following Error:

Sometimes if works on the first Node, but never on the second Node. If it fails or not, the output ist always that i can see an Storage Pool on the KD-Storage01 Node, but never on the KD-Storage02 Node:

It drives me crazy. I doesn't really found something useful in the Logs (Application & OS) and also reinstalled the Second Node already. Also i rebuild the "user"-User which was present on the KD-Storage01 Node, but not on the KD-Storage02 Node. I thought it could be an Permission / Login Problem, but it doesn't seems so.

Does anyone have an Idea? The Disks which i provided for the Storage are local qcow2 Files, which are visible in the Disk Pool and are connected the same Way as the Boot Disk.

Hi,

Please share the logs and provide an approximate time stamp when the issue has happened. Please tell me more about the underlying storage of the system you use
For each node, Press the gear-shaped button at the top -> Expand the appliance name -> Support bundle.
Upload the logs here https://www.starwindsoftware.com/support-form
If you plan it for commercial purposes, please also consider trialing the product https://www.starwindsoftware.com/free-s ... vsan-trial.

Hi!

i created an ticket with both Logs as attachment. I recreated the issue at 8:25-8:30am.

The underlying Storage are one 1TB NVME SSD (local-lvm) in both Hosts on which i created an virtual Disk which are mapped to the storage nodes.

Thanks for your Support.

Thanks to yaroslav - he pointed me in the right direction. Here the solution as hint for other users which could have the exact same problem. My disks are now configured like this and it seems working as sharmed:

Boot Disk
Type: SATA
Discard: Off

Data Disk
Type: SATA
Discard: On

Controller: VirtIO SCSI Single

The Type and Discard Settings seems to be the essential part.
