Hi All-

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help...

Running the free version on Windows 2003 Server 32-bit (target) and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (Microsoft initiator).

I have configured a 1.36 TB imagefile target -- it is housed on a single 1.5 TB Seagate drive.

This configuration was working great -- approx 75 MB/s throughput over GigE. Rather suddenly, throughput has gone to zero. Had been working fine for several weeks.

I can still mount the volume and see its contents, but cannot read/write to the volume with files that are of any reasonable size. Files that are really small (<200 KB) seem to transfer ok, but if you try to copy a bunch of them, only the first couple make it -- then no more throughput.

In an attempt to troubleshoot and rule out network issues, I installed the Microsoft initiator on the Server -- same box as StarWind. Same problem... I'm able to mount the volume, see the contents, but not move any data.

Any thoughts?

Is there any way for me to extract the contents of the imagefile without mounting the volume?? I'm concerned that I won't be able to get my data off these volumes...

Well, things have improved. After a couple reboots (I haven't done anything else), the setup is reading data at about 4 MB / sec.

Abysmal performance, but at least I can start copying data off it.

No one has any suggestions??

First of all please make sure that you are using the latest build which is available at http://www.starwindsoftware.com/free . In case you are using it, a simple re-installation of StarWind may help because we have seen several similar issues which were related to the Windows updates and re-installation helped.

Also, please try to "tune-up" the TCP/IP settings according to the instruction from the post http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/ ... -t792.html

If the problem still persists, please download Wireshark utility from http://www.wireshark.org/download.html , run the analysis of the network packets and send the resulting log to us at support@starwindsoftware.com

Ok, just reinstalled...

No luck -- still only moving about 3MB/sec right now...


Will try optimizing TCP/IP settings, but it was moving 75MB/sec before without any optimization...

There is definately either a bottleneck somewhere which prevents iSCSI packets to use full speed.

If TCP optimization does not help, please send us the wireshark output and starwind logs.
