Solving LAN throughput with CX4 interfaces ??

Hi All,
Looking for storage solutions, Supermicro, I stumbled on CX4 interfaces.
These 10Gb interfaces are about half the price of 10Gb LAN interfaces.
Quickly thinking this could be even an affordable solution in comparison to multiple 1Gb LAN interfaces in a server and /or multiple 1Gb port occupation on switch(es)
.
E.g:
http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/prodbri ... dbrief.pdf
However I can''t find any information on the usage of these interfaces:
- Physical server <> switch <> storage
- VMware host <> switch <> storage
Has anyone looked into this already ?
Thanx Jaap
