Is it a problem to create HA-images on spanned Volumes on the Starwind target server (maybe performance or security)

I have an elder Storage Server with SCSI-Raid Controller which can only address a maximum of 2TB for one LUN

So I have to create two LUNS - one with 2TB and the rest with 1.5TB - all RAID 6 (ADG)

With spanned Volume I can use the maximum of 3.5TB in one partition - is this recommended ?

You can use your disk, but we don`t recommend such configuration. We will support such configuration, but we would not be able to help you in case of data corruption
