Hello all Newbie here. I am getting ready to install Starwind on my first array. I plan on using the free hyper-v server 2008 r2 as the base os to install on. I have downloaded and read the getting started guide for Starwind and look for other docs, but i cannot find a guide on how to install Starwind onto a scaled down server like hyper-v server where there is no gui. Can anyone tell me the steps, or point me to a document?
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,
If I understand you right, you need install StarWind on the server without GUI.
To do that, please launch StarWind installer from the command line and install StarWind Service. On your laptop (or any other machine) launch StarWind installer and install StarWind Management Console. Run StarWind Management Console and add the remote server specifying its IP address. Please make sure that on the server (the one with no gui and StarWind service installed) windows firewall is either disabled or connections to 3260 and 3261 tcp ports are allowed.

Hi Bohdan,
I followed your instruction but I encounter a pop-up windows mentioning that "Microsoft iSCSI service is required. Please make sure that MS iSCSI Initiator Service is running and it is set to automatically start when your server is rebooted."
How do I install the Microsoft iSCSI service to Hyper-V 2008 R2 and set it automatically start after reboot?
