Using .ibv with vmware datastores...is that supported?
This is the exact notification: IBV device IBV5: client does not support VSS. Snapshot may be inconsistent.
Thanks,
Mark

VSS is Volume Snapshot Services. Entirely Microsoft thing so far. So it's normal VMware does not support it

However VMFS is doing atomic writes and is journaling by it's nature so you may treat this warning as a warning.

I understand that vmware doesn't support vss, my main concern is...should i just ignore the warnings?

You do exactly what you're supposed to do - you ask. In this particular case it's a real warning so you can ignore it. Other cases could be different.
