I already have MS iSCSI target running on Windows 2008 R2, Qs:
1. can StarWind be installed and running alone side with MS iSCSI target?
2. can StarWind use existing MS iSCSI vhd virtual disk?
Thanks.

1) Yes, but you need to configure StarWind to use different from default iSCSI port (not 3260 but something free say 3999) and make sure your iSCSI initiator has ability to select working port other then default 3260.
2) Yes, use StarWind V2V converter to migrate VHDs to StarWind native IMG format.

1) tried to add iscsi port other than 3260 under Configuration | Network, didn't do anything, had to add VIP and default port 3260 to get around.
target can't seem to have more than one device, is this limitation of free edition?
caching does good job to improve performance, seems that cache is defined and used per target, correct?

We use 1 device per target, it's not a bug it is a feature
Yes, caching is defined for each target individually.

...StarWind V5.8 and up is expected to have multi-LUN support in production however. There's no big thing about it, just easier way to deal with a Microsoft-defined snapshots and also it's mandatory for VMware certification.

Is there a plan to support VMware VAAI & VASA?

VAAI is expected to be part of V5.8 or V5.9 (Fall 2011).

Yes, it's expected to be a basic core feature we're not supposed to charge extra for. I have no idea what it has to do with entirely home setup but whatever.

Are there any news on VAAI?
I didn't see a word of this in the 5.8 beta release notes.

Where, in general, are the release notes?
Cheers, Rob.

VAAI should follow SMI-S and new async core and is scheduled on post V6. If we'll catch up and manage to release V5.8 till the end of the year you have great chances to see VAAI in March 2012.

I meant is there a general repository of all release notes, not just the beta.
Cheers, Rob.
