Is the StarWind software Storage Management Initiative (SMI-S) compliant? Just wondering, would like to use this program with SCVMM 2012 and just attach the iSCSI array.

SMI-S support is under way. You should be able to use StarWind with VMM 2012. Not sure about V5.8 but SMI-S should be definitely part of StarWind till the end of this year. And of course before VMM 2012 will go gold.
