The last time I had to shut both of the servers in the HA SAN, the instructions I received were to delete the Targets, shut down the server, do the maintenance, bring up the servers, add the targets with the same names, and tell it not to resyncronize the targets when I set them up. Is that still the procedure? It worked, but was very time consuming, particularly with 18 targets. While this doesn't happen often, it would be beneficial in an emergency to be able to do this more easily.

If the process has changed, I'd like more information on the new method. If it hasn't changed, I would like to suggest and request a feature addition that provides a SAN shutdown and SAN restart function that works in sync between the servers in the SAN. It would seem to be a more reliable way to accomplish the task. This could cut down on the risk of data corruption and may reduce the risk of having to resync from one side or the other.

Nope, that is actually the best option for now. Otherwise you may refer to our FAQ:

As you can see this procedure will take more time.
