Hello,

i have downloaded Starwind 5.8 (free edition).
I have seen in the installation noted, that Hardware VSS provider are available as seperate download.
Where can i find the providers to download? We want to use them with Microsoft DPM and/or VEEAM B&R v6 for our Hyper-V Cluster

Can you quote here complete e-mail with all the links you've received from StarWind Software as a reply to your registration / download attempt?

You should have a web page or e-mail with all the links. Can you quote what you've got?

Hello,

just in this moment i have downloaded the AdCycleBackup_x64.msi.
Can i use this to install the hardware vss writer?
I do not need the starwind plugin for hyper-v backup, only hardware vss providers.
So i can optimize my backup and limit the time where the cluster shared volume is in redirected mode.
Is this supported? also in free version?

Regards

No you cannot.

Please do what I've asked you to do twice already. Thanks!

Yes, it's what it's designed to work for.

Yes, it's in free version as well.

Hello,

ah, when i use this way "Products" -> "Starwind Free Products" -> "Starwind iSCSI Free Edition" and after that click on download, right, i have :

Download StarWind Installer:
http://www.starwindsoftware.com/custome ... arwind.exe

This package installs StarWind 5.8 on your system.
To activate your software installation, you need to generate and download a license key:

StarWind Free License Key

Please note: StarWind Free Edition provides you with a limited set of features, while StarWind 30-day Trial includes all functionality of StarWind Enterprise HA Unlimited and it is highly recommended for evaluation purposes. To generate and download your personal Trial license key, click the button below:
StarWind 30-day Trial License Key
Both Free and Trial StarWind licenses can be upgraded to the full version. To do this, please, contact sales: sales@starwindsoftware.com

With a n"new" account (new registration) i get a download "VSS Providers".

thanks

Regards

Hello,

now i have installed the vss writer on the hyper-v hsot server, which are accessing a csv on a iscsi device.(with the option softwaer and hardware vss).
At the moment i have a target "data" with one device "ImageFile1", type "basic virtual".
For vss i need an "advanced virtual" -> "Snapshot and CDP device", right?
Can i convert my ImageFile to cdp device?

Regards

That's correct,
you will be able to convert the img file to CDP device under Disk->Advanced Virtual ->Snapshot & CDP. You can also use our technical guides for detailed instructions: http://www.starwindsoftware.com/technical-papers
