I want to create a home lab at home- the home lab will be one ESXi free version of V-Sphere. I will then create two vm's with Server 2008 R2 Enterprise - I want to create a two windows cluster and I know that this usually requires a quarum for shared storage.

Can I use the free version of Starwind ISCI for share storage to do this? If YES, do I need to install the Free iScsi product on a separate VM. I am guessing YES to place it on another File Server type VM.

You can do it just fine. It's non-production config so you can "cloe eyes" on a lot of issues it (config) actually raises.
