Hi!

We're evaluating starwind iscsi for our more than 60 disk-less server environment. We hope to replace MS iSCSI and get benefits of better caching and de-dublication but run into problems with booting HP BL460G1 blades.

Target: Windows Server R2 Enterprise Edition SP1
Initiator: BL460c G1 (NC373i MultiFunction adapter Broadcom - based)

We oversee an initial connection going OK but the sever lost access to disk (potenitally at the moment of switching from bios agent to OS drivers). OS is Windows Server R2 Enterprise Edition SP1. Operating system doesn't see any HDD for installation.

We currently use in production MS Windows iSCSI and it works just fine for HP BL 460 G1 servers. Also, as a matter of testing we have succeed in booting BL460c G7 (NC553i MultiFunction/FlexFabric adapter Emulex - based) from Starwind. All network settings and other elements are similar.

We assume that the problem is in incompatibility of Starwind and BL 460G1. I can send logs if it can help to investigate this issue.

Yes, please send us the logs. And make sure you've enabled "clustered" mode when you'd created a target (bad firmware can skip logging off before actual Windows initiator issues connect sequence so StarWind may think old connection is still there and it's gone...).

How can I post log files?
Also, do you need any kind of the trace? I can populate Wired Shark or MS NW capture files. Please, target me to any kind of possible problems. Regards :)

No log manuscripts in the forum posts :)
Please send it to support@starwindsoftware.com and mark the email topic same as the forum topic.
If the log file size exceeds 2-3 MBs I'd kindly ask you to zip it.

We have reproduced the bug in our test environment.
Currently working with Broadcom to see which commands are not executed correctly.
I will update the topic as soon as we have an update.
