I created an image of 300GB on a 600GB drive, not long after I extended the image to 600GB using the function in Starwind.

I've now realized I needed that extra 300GB for a second target rather than extending the first. Is there a way to shrink the image back down? It has an NTFS file system, shouldn't be very fragmented, only has about 200GB of data currently.

I would prefer not to have to copy all the data to an external HDD and re-create.

Regards,

Unfortunatelly there is no in-built mechanism to shrink device on-fly.
So yes, the easiest way is if you`ll be able to create new target on some other HDD and move the data on it.
