StarWind 5.8.1964
ESX 5 upd 1, ha cluster.
Two servers DL380g6, 6 HDD 300 Gb, RAID 5, controller with battery.
Starwind installed in Win 2008 R2, 2 GB RAM, 2 CPU
Starwind HA storage 1300 Gb
And we have very low speed in virtual machines! For example, 10 MB/sec for network read from virtual machine, installed on Starwind HA storage...
at the same time in virtual machines with installed Starwind we can see in perfomance monitor load of HDD - 80-90 percent! And read speed 10 Mb/sec!

Can someone comment on this?

If Round Robin iscsi multipathing (the fist path to storage on the same host and the second on the other host) used then access to discs is very slow. If we use Fixed path from the host to storage on the same host access is much faster.

Try to change the TcpAckFrequency on the starwind machines:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2020559/en-us
(the sympton described is not the case, just follow the instructions to change TcpAckFrequency)

I would strongly recommend to update your SAN software to the latest version and after repeat the tests.

Can i be sure, that during upgrade from version 5.8.1964 (at first one storage, then second, so as not to interrupt the operation of servers) all data in my HA storage will no be lost? :|

Don't do any migrations or reboots, without updated backups of everything.

Theoretically the update should go ok without issues.
