Apparently starwin read settings in config to everytime determine whether it should write back the cache memory , so if you initially have mode to wb, then change to wt and restart starwind, all your changes are going to be lost, which is not very safe I think.

And you are 100% correct! To be honest it is good that you asked before doing something - it is strongly not recommended to change something in config file, when you don't know all the results of this action.

Also I`d like you to know that in future releases (probably 6.2) we will have feature that will allow you to change cache settings on the fly.
