Hi,
we will be trial testing StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V so before engaging in that I have a question. There will be two Hyper-V hosts in cluster using StarWind ISCSI Target for storage. Clustered Hyper-V hosts will run VM with Oracle database. Our idea is to set up the VM so that it has ISCSI target based data volume too. The VM would connect to StarWind ISCSI target running on parent partition. Is that a possible/recommended scenario? Also, we would like to be able to restore this data volume to some point in past utilising CDP but to *another* virtual machine. Would that be possible?

Regarding your question: To be honest the question where to map StarWind drive - to the Hyper-V host or to map it directly to the VM is rather MS Best Practices related question. On our experience it will be better idea to use first option since using virtual network can affect the system with overheads and lags.

The CDP feature or the backup plug-in will help you to create point-in-time snapshot that`ll help you to restore to the "healthy" system anytime.
Also - for current release you should choose what you will use - CDP or HA for production environment. The HA+CDP bundled is available as experimental feature. So I think for now the best idea is to use HA plus Backup plug-in.
