Hello - I apologize if this is a re-post, I'm not having luck searching for windows AND 8, too many results for other OS'es. In any case, I've installed the free trial for my personal home testing. Installation went through without a hitch and I was able to use the management console to create an iSCSI target group, but when I tried to create a LUN, the target.img file was created (on a storage spaces volume, BTW) but the console hung during creation. Now whenever I attempt to connect to the local Starwind server, the console hangs.
I didn't spot any support statements about Windows 8, throwing this out there in case anyone else has seen this issue or if this is an unsupported config.
Thanks!

Do you happen to have both service and app logs under hands to share with us?

Thanks Anton for your quick reply. Been a busy week for me, still working on getting the logs for you.
In the meantime I'm confident the problem manifests when trying to create a device on a thin-provisioned Windows 8 storage space. I have a storage space comprised of one 2TB drive and 3 500GB drives in a parity pool with a 20TB storage space size and a 20TB NTFS volume on it. I've seen this can manifest some strange behaviors in applications that query the amount of free space as it'll be returned as (20TB - data used), however the volume will fill when data used approaches 2.5TB. I have over 1TB of actual usable space available and I'm attempting to create 100GB thin-provisioned device in StarWind.
I suspect something wonky is happening to StarWind when creating the device as it gets created but the Management UI hangs. ISCSI service does not. Attempts to connect remotely from a Win7 system with console installed cause that console to hang upon connecting.
Very weird - and no problems at all when creating the same type of iSCSI device on a non-Storage Space volume on the same Windows 8 machine.
This should be easy to replicate in a test lab using a VM as you can attach multiple VMDK/VHD's to the VM, create a storage pool (thin provisioned) and try to recreate. I would suspect the same behavior on Server 2012.
Thanks!

Are you creating storage on WS2012, running the console on Win8?
And one more question - does the issue get reproduced if thin provisioning isn't enabled?
