I have this problem on my cluster

1). I can not compirmere VHD files of the VM cluster form Hyper-V Manager
2). I can not copy the VHD file to shared folder via explorer

I have a 2 node Windows 2008 R2 64Bit Cluster with Starwind Native SAN for Hyper-V 5.8.
All system patch is up and cluster is build to manage 8 Virtual Machine all Windows 2008 R2 64Bit

My configuration is:
2x Server Windows 2008 R2 Advanced Server with
2 x Xeon 5640 (24 core)
48GB RAM
Disk 1 : 2x300GB SAS II 15K for S.O. with dedicated controller Adaptech
Disk 2 : 3x600GB SAS II 15K RAID 5 used by Starwind with a dedicated controller SAS II. In this disk are store the VM
Disk 3 : 2x120GB SATA III SSD RAID 0 used by Starwind. In this disk where is 2 virtual disk of Starwind, one for Cluster Management and one for a second disk of one VM for DB

LAN:
Each server have 6 Ethernet cable (one 4 port Intel I340 T4 PRO/1000 Quad Port PCI-Expressan, 1 Intel 82574L PRO/1000 integrated and 1 Intel 82574L PRO/1000 integrated)
1 LAN for Starwind with address 10.0.0.11 and 10.0.0.12
1 LAN for Cluster with address 10.1.0.11 and 10.1.0.12
This LAN is connect to a dedicated switch 5 port Gigabit isolated from the Factory LAN

3 LAN for the 8 VM (each VM use address form 192.168.100.21 to 192.168.100.28)
1 LAN for Host 192.168.100.11 and 192.168.100.12
This LAN is connect to the primary switch HP Gigabit of Factory and are the I340 T4 Quad port LAN

Cluster see this disk build form starwind
Disk 1 Quorum Disk 10GB
Disk 2 Data 2 Disk 94GB in this disk is store Disk "D" of one VM whit DB2 Database
Disk 3 Data 1 Disk 1.150GB in this disk are stored all the VM

I see the folder of cluster and see all file of VM form any host I can move any VM form host and if a host is down the VM move automatically to the second host. For do this I must set the disk of cluster in maintenance mode, else not work The move command of any VM use 1/3 minutes to do, is normally?

If I try to copy a file VHD of a VM form the Cluster Folder to a shared LAN folder the system start with high speed transfer but after few second stop to copy. System work but the copy operation stops.
IF I try to close operation of copy the explorer freeze form many minutes, the VM continue to work.

I hope that the information provided may be sufficient

I will assume that you are using CSVs with Hyper-v.

1. It sounds like you have to put the disk into maintenance mode because the second server is have issues connecting to the drive. Does it normally say redirected access? If so there is something wrong with your iSCSI connections.
2. In my experience, I have been unable to copy a VHD from a machine that is running. This takes a considerable amount of disk performance to achieve, and has no benefit as the disk would be corrupted by the copy.

1). what i can test for verify the incorrect iSCSI connection. All same ok ...
2). the VM machine is off when i copy file, i not want to copy VHD when it work but do a simply copy to create a new VM in a server not in LAN to test an update of a particolary software

1. Not sure exactly, but can you post pictures of the isci Initiator Properties the targets tabs on both Hyper-V machines in the cluster.
2. If the machine is off, then do an export as this also fixes the permissions.

Hi Lonewolf74,
Seems like the HA devices are connected properly.
The networks you see in the StarWind management console are those StarWind has discovered as usable.
You can restrict use of certain networks by disabling them.

As for the VHD issue, I would agree with Jeddyatcc - it can get a little complicated on the CSV.
Does the export option work for you if you do it via cluster manager?

Thank you very much for the pictures. On the Destinazioni tab can you scroll over to show the Status, and I would need to see that for All Hyper-V hosts in the cluster.
