Let's say I want to create snapshot one per day at 4 am. During configuration of device I can choose period of 1440 minutes (that is, 1 day) but I don't how to make sure that snapshot takes place exactly at the chosen time. I've found no way to configure this (searched for that in 'StarWind.cfg' file as well).
How to achieve this?

There is no way for now importunately. May I sk you if you are backing up VMs only? I`m asking because we do have nice scheduler in our backup plug-in solution.

My intention is to create "backup of backup". I'm using Windows Backup to create backups of Windows Server and the target is iSCSI disk. This happens about 10 PM. So I'd like to create snapshot of that backup volume on 5 AM. If, for example, my backup volume gets corrupted during next backup I'll be able to revert to last working state.
Maybe snapshot time staring to count from the moment StarWind service (re)starts? Then if I restart service at 5 AM and set snapshot period to 1440 minutes I could achieve my goal?

Snapshot timier is starting from the moment when the device was created, so your only option is to create it at 5 PM
