I have the free version of Star Wind and I installed it fine. After that, I created a target and a device but no Windows machine (2012 and 8 ) could find it. So I then tried to add a couple of Hyper-V boxes. The install said that the backup was installed successfully and the servers ended up in Backup --> Infrastructure. But, when I try to add a Hyper-V box, it tells me that it was successful but then it goes back to the console and thinks for a few seconds and tells me that the "Current license is expired or invalid. Please contact sales". It has 3 buttons: "Enter Key", "Buy License" and "OK". Oddly, when I go to the Host --> Registration menu, the Install License menu item is grayed out. What do I need to do to get this to work?

Little doublecheck: do you want to trial our backup plug-in or our iSCSI SAN target software?

To be honest, I didn't know anything about the backup part. I was trying to create a SAN for my Hyper-V boxes (and ESX when I get it running) and the backup part popped up when I tried to add a Hyper-V box. Am I heading in the right direction?

Thanks for the link but the pdf doesn't seem to match my installation. Step 5 on page 7 says to click the Add Target button. have no such button. I can right click on "Targets" and add a target but there is no button.

Any other suggestions? As far as I can tell, StarWind is set up correctly (I have a target and a device image attached to it) but my Windows boxes won't recognize that it exists.

On another note, what port does StarWind use to access the iSCSI devices? I can find no indication anywhere in the console that will tell me what port I am supposed to tell the iSCSI client to use.

What version of our software are you running please?
Can you post the screenshot of your starwind management console with one host logged in and Targets selected?
