Is vmware vSAn the same type of product as starwind nativeSAN ?

Yes, absolutely! With the V8 we'll release on 18th of October there's also flash caching, log-structuring and unlimied scale-out.

VMware version of the same product would be called StarWind VSA and will do the same except it would run not on top of a hypervisor like vSAN but inside a virtual machine.
