Boot iSCSI within ESX 5.1 VM

Has anyone ever tried using iPXE to network boot iSCSI from within an ESX VM? Specifically I am trying to install Win7x64 from an ISO to a StarWind iSCSI target. 75% of the time the first reboot fails with Boot Manager reporting an 0xc00000e9 exception in various drivers. The remaining 25% of the time the VM just hangs after reboot. If I perform the exact same thing but using a Microsoft iSCSI target (2012r2) , the installation completes without issue.

The 0xc00000e9 error appears to be STATUS_UNEXPECTED_IO_ERROR.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Jeff

Is there any chance to see a StarWind logs from a failed attempt? It would help a lot. Your feedback is appreciated!

OK, it looks like the problem was caused by the disabled Clustering (allow multiple concurrent iSCSI connections) on the target. Could you please double check this setting?
