Which Hyper V install is best?

I want to install the trial of V8, but didn't find any documentation about using Windows Server 2012 R2 w/HyperV role versus using the free HyperV Server 2012 R2.

I understand the differences between the two HyperV options, but wonder if Starwind V8 recommends one or the other?

We really don't care as both of them are basically the same operating system core with or w/o GUI thing we don't really use (unless you configure StarWind on the same host where service runs and that's rare).
