Passthrough Disks

I am pitching for a project to migrate a client from DataCore SANmelody + Hyper-V to StarWind Hyper-Converged.

The current system has a number of virtual machines configured with (multiple) passthrough disks, where the SAN LUN is presented through the cluster hosts to the guest VM, with no CSV or VHD involved.

Is pass-through an option in SW, what are the pros & cons, what migration options are open to me and what challenges am I likely to face?

1) Yes, you can do it with StarWind no problem. Check for "DiskBridge" but...

2) No, you should not be doing that if possible (LSFS cannot be layered on top of a raw disks).

3) Spawn StarWind-managed virtual LUNs and layering CSVs on top of them and doing "VM Storage Live Migration" is a way to go.

P.S. You can even do it w/o downtime for VMs nd Hyper-V hosts.
