Hello,
I requested a free license for the Virtual SAN for Hyper-V, 2 node, and was sent the download link and license file. I downloaded the software and key and when I went to install, I received this error as a separate pop-up:
Error: Wrong License Platform
License Information
Product: Starwind HA for Hyper-V
Name: [myname]
Organization: [myorganization]
Number of servers: 2
Error: License platform is not compatible
(WRONG_PLATFORM__LICENSE_FOR_HYPERV)
What I'm not sure about is whether my license key is wrong or what I downloaded was wrong. The link the email had was for [ MODERATED ]
So does anyone have any insight? I'm installing it on a Windows 2012 R2 Server with no roles/features installed. The idea is to make this server a virtual SAN so I can share the storage between 2 other servers that are Hyper-V hosts for clustering. Are there certain roles or version of Windows I need to be putting this on? Or maybe I have the wrong download link or something?
Thanks

You've messed up with a licenses a bit... You should have TWO license key sets:
1) 1-node to use with a "Compute and Storage Separated" scenario (storage and hypervisor run on a different set of servers)
2) 2-node to use with a "Hyper-Converged" scenario (storage and hypervisor share the same set of servers)
So what you do - take key from 2) and use it with 1) which is not supported (Hyper-Converged setup will have for Hyper-V role enabled, you don't have it).
Solution: Use matching set of keys for your configuration.
P.S. I've edited your post and deleted direct download URL. Please DO NOT publish what you get from us in e-mails. Thanks!

Hello! I have a two Windows ser 2012R2 with role HyperV.
I requested a free license for the Virtual SAN for Hyper-V, 2 node, and was sent the download link and license file. I downloaded the software and key and when I went to install, I received this error as a separate pop-up:
Error: Wrong License Platform
License Information
Product: Starwind Virtual SAN
Name: [myname]
Organization: [myorganization]
Number of servers: 2
Error: License platform is not compatible
This license requires platform: Dedicated Physical Hyper-V Server
Why is that? This license use only for HyperV Server?
