Hyperconverged on non identical hardware

Hi,
We have 2 ESxi 5.5 Hosts.
- HP Proliant DL160 G8 server (1x Xeon E5-2620)
- HP Proliant DL360 G9 server (1x Xeon E5-2620 v3)
They are not identical, but similar.
It is possible to run the 2-nodes hyperconverged scenario on these?

Hello Thomas,
You can use StarWind for Hyper-Converged scenario your two similar servers.
But according to our system requirements, OS for your StarWind VM`s you should use from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2, including Server Core editions and free Microsoft Hyper-V Server.

That's great!
Concerning the Windows 2012 server license : we would need to buy 2 copies (one for each VM).
Could you advise on which Windows 2012 edition would be the most basic (cheap) that we can use for this?

The main edition is Windows Server 2012R2 Standard.
You can even use two Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 and it is free, but they are without GUI.
For this case you can manage StarWind from your laptop, just installing the Management console on it.

But remember, it must not be used for commercial purposes under any circumstances, because that would mean violating your license agreement.
