2 Node Storage Cluster with Domain Controller

Pre-Installation questions (after a few months on other projects...)

I have 2 DL380's as intended VSAN storage, both running Win Server 2012 R2. It says on one product sheet that neither of these servers should be the domain controller. I had intended to run Client Computer Backups directly to one of these boxes, which requires simply one of these to be a domain controller.

If I virtualize the domain controller and CCB it will put a lot of back and forth on the network, because it would just place data back on the same servers it came from but routed through the VM.

It never said why, but what are the downsides or risks of using the storage server as a domain controller?

In case of Hyper-V hyper-converged scenario you should install one domain controller(primary) directly on Windows.
But for fault tolerance you need second domain controller(secondary).
For secondary domain controller you need to create VM and install DC(secondary) directly into VM.
You will have two DC`s, one on the first node(primary, directly on a Windows installed) and the second one(secondary, installed on a VM) on a second node.
