Windows x64 support

does starwind support windows x64 xp pro or am i just running in circles trying to get starport to use it on my win 2k3 win32 box?

What exactly you do? Run StarWind on "AMD64" machine and run StarPort on "i386" machine and try to connect to iSCSI target? Which step fails?

Hi,

The recent StarWind version officially supports only x86 machines.
So there could be issues when using it on a x64 host.

What does it happen with StarWind on your x64 machine?
Could you send me any log files to analyze?

need to run over and help with powerpoint and a scanner for a few hours but when i get back i will post the logs i have.. basicly right now windstar seems to do every thing it needs to do. but when windport trys to use the drive what ever program locks windport and the program up. such as internet explorer, nero, alchol 120

Hi,

According to the server logs there were one successful discovery and then a normal iSCSI sessions to the target 'burner'.
Then you tried to remove the target with connected initiator. (There are several warnings in the log).
After the initiator disconnected, the target was removed from the target list and the next login request failed because of no target with the name was present at the time.

BTW Have you tried to work with RamDisk target's on the x64 machine?
If they work OK, this could help us to pin out the problem with SPTI...

will have to wait until i get more ram into this machine to test the ram drive. how small of a ram drive can it handle?
getting 1 gig after the first of september.

Hi,
It's enough to have a RamDisk 16-32MB to test the mode.
Just mount it with an initiator and copy files to it and from, or use IoMeter to test it under high load...

well the ram driver works great. formated it from the x86 machine and every thing copied files over to etc, etc, etc.

So it seems the SPTI mode has some issues in a x64 environment.

We will work on the x64 version this month. The version will support x64 natively.

Generally speaking SPTI is a bit broken with non SP releases of XP64. I'd apply latest service pack to see would it fix the issue.

Windows 2003 Professional 5.2 Service Pack 1 (Build #3790)
that is the version of x64 i am useing not sure there is any other updates for it.

Should work! Seem to be our issue. Would you please experiment with other plug-ins (hard disk f.e.) and we'll try SPTI here.
