I've played with starwind in the past but just recently i noticed the new 5.0 release and a change in licensing that allows unlimited concurrent iSCSI licenses (or so i thought).

With 18 ESX 4 hosts I thought i would give it another go. Well it would seem that after 2 connections, ESX fails to see the iSCSI target, if i remove one, I can add another... is this a limitation of the free version or do i have something misconfigured?

I've had a test setup running with 6 esxi hosts connected to 2 mirrored Starwind servers, both of which had 4 NICs and 6 targets each making 24 paths per host for the multipathing - and it was failing over properly. The only thing I've changed which I dont remember seeing in the ESX documentation is the line from the XEN setup guide, where you have to uncomment the line in the Starwind config so it reveals all the targets on a single IQN. ESXi dynamic discovery only seems to like one IP per Starwind host, but doing that lets it see all the available paths.

See comments in http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/ ... t1914.html - I've done some more testing today.
