I have a couple of questions about StarWind licensing. There seems to be different information about included features depending on there I look at this site...

In this thread http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/ ... t1843.html posted by the the forum administrator it is stated that
From now on one can install StarWind Enterprise Server on two nodes using one license! The Enterprise Server license permits installation on a secondary node for the purpose of mirroring and replication from the primary node.
Does this apply to both Enterprise and Enterprise Unlimited licenses or only to Enterprise Unlimited licenses, which include 2 Servers per license? The starwind_licensing_guide.pdf linked to in the same thread is not available for download so I can't read it to get any answers..

On this page http://www.starwindsoftware.com/free it is stated that Disk Bridge is available in the Server edition and higher and that maximum disk capacity is 2 GB.
On this page http://www.starwindsoftware.com/buy/editions-comparison it is stated that Disk Bridge is available in the Enterprise edition and higher and that maximum disk capacity is 2GB.
And on this pages http://www.starwindsoftware.com/starwin ... -iscsi-san it is stated that both Disk Bridge and SPTI is available in the Server edition and that maximum disk capacity is Unlimited.

So to summarize my questions:
How much capacity is available in the Server edition and Enterprise Edition?
Is Disk Bridge available or not?
Is SPTI available or not?

now is that specific to v5 and up? We purchased a license for v4.2 b20090702, License type: Server Edition, and it clearly says SPTI is available for our use. Will existing customers lose that feature when the upgrade to v5, or will their license carry over the previously paid for feature set?

That's specific for the current version of V5. Please contact us at sales@starwindsoftware.com for additional upgrading, feature and licensing questions.

Thanks.

For existing "Server" license holders, what compelling reason is there for upgrading to v5 then, if we're going to lose out on a feature set we're used to having in place already?

Or is this something we'll still have to take up with the sales department?

Rixxx,

Hello! I am one of the Support Engineers here with StarWind, I have to apologize for any confusion on this topic. If you are current on maintenance you will be able to upgrade to the 5.0 version of the software without losing any of your existing functionality. If you drop me a line at bob.boule@starwindsoftware.com with your details, I will make sure you get the correct license file allowing you to upgrade to the latest version of the software!

Thank you for using StarWind Software, I look forward to working with you.

Best Regards,

Bob Boule

During migration process it's pretty trivial to replace the binaries on the stopped HA node. You'll keep both configuration and connected customers as it's generally speaking what HA is made for :))

Hi Anton,

It would be if it was not advised by Starwind support to do a full de-install, install and add targets :|
Even within the same version 5.0 >5.2.

How do you expect us to replace the binaries? Even for the same version, minor increment?
